Can we have a church wedding here?

Again, it's governed by law - we don't have any local discretion either way

First use the checklist at this link to check whether you can have a Church of England wedding

Then use the checklist below to see whether you can have your wedding in one of these four churches

You can get married in whichever of these four churches you choose
as long as either the bride or the groom...

(1) ...has been living in one of the four parishes for at least six months, or
(2) ...previously lived in one of the four parishes for at least six months, or
(3) ...will be living in one of the four parishes for the last three months before the wedding day, or
(4) ...has at some stage attended services regularly in one of the four parishes for at least six months, or
(5) ...was baptised in one of the four parishes, or
(6) ...was prepared for confirmation in one of the four parishes, or
(7) ...has a parent who was married in one of the four parishes, or
(8) ...has a grandparent who was married in one of the four parishes, or
(9) ...has a parent who lives or previously lived in one of the four parishes for at least six months (after you were born), or
(10) ...has a parent who attended services regularly in one of the four parishes for at least six months (after you were born)

You must specify which of the above applies to you when you book your wedding

You can check the exact parish boundaries by clicking here and entering your postcode

If none of the above applies, but you still have a genuine strong link with one of the four parishes, you can apply to the archbishop for a ‘Special Licence’ - contact the diocesan registrar for more information

Even where it is not possible for us to conduct your wedding and legally register your marriage, we may be able to organise a very similar service of celebration and blessing following the legal registration of your marriage elsewhere - for example in a register office, or abroad, or in another licensed wedding venue - the same options apply, and at a slightly reduced cost - contact the churchwarden for more information (contact details on home page)
